When the Miró Foundation opened its doors in 1975 on Mount Montjuïc, Barcelona was still in the middle of its cultural Sleeping Beauty slumber. The Josep Lluís Sert-designed exhibition hall whose proportions are based on Le Corbusier’s Modulor caused a tremendous stir. Together with its gardens and terraces, the Foundation houses Miró’s collection of 10,000 pieces from 70 years of work, donated by the artist himself. “Espai 13” is a forum for young contemporary artists.
