Local before arrival
Inaugurated in 2009, this law court complex on the border between Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat is characterized by the interplay between eight cubes of different volumes. David Chipperfield and the firm b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos break up the monolithic structure by using varying building heights, different color pigments in the concrete façades, and arranging the buildings around an atrium. A total of 2.5 million sq. ft. is available for government agencies, stores, and offices.
