Local before arrival
The Holocaust Memorial, designed by Peter Eisenman and opened in 2005, consists of 2,711 off-kilter concrete blocks of varying heights. Occupying a prominent spot in the city’s center, the memorial is an island of calm intended to inspire reflection and its vast expanse of approximately 4.7 acres is a monument to memory. An underground information center serves as a museum for the complex and gives faces to the victims.
