Built in 1969 in the same style as the surrounding palatial buildings, this former reception hall for socialist dignitaries is now an off-the-beaten-track gallery—one of Germany’s most happening. Inside, the décor is GDR chic, and the panoramic view of the Friedrichwerder Church and the Fernsehturm lends the place certain lavishness. Nina Pohl, who heads the Art Society for Contemporary Sculpture, has a talent for finding the right artists for the museum.
