Jean Nouvel’s design of the Torre Agbar (2005) brings to mind the distinctive shape of the mountains of Montserrat or the eruption of a geyser. The bioclimatic building is surrounded by a skin of aluminum painted in shades of red, brown, and blue, overlaid by a glass façade with more than 59,000 louvers. A concrete core contains all service installations and emergency stairwells, resulting in 35 stories with flexible floor plans and no internal partition walls.
