In 1991, Maurizio Nannucci wrote “You can imagine the opposite” on the outer wall of the Lenbachhaus. In 2013, the firm of Foster + Partners turned the slogan into reality when it built a modern wing onto the historic villa. Inside, the new wing displays the world's largest collection of works by the "Blue Rider" artist collective, works from the 19th century and the New Objectivity movement as well as post-1945 art and an impressive selection of pieces by Josef Beuys.
