Opened in 1995, the Richard Meier-designed Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) is located amidst the maze of streets of the El Raval neighborhood in the old city. The white, broad glass façade facing the lively Plaça dels Àngels allows views from and into the building, thus serving as a connecting element. The permanent collection has pieces ranging from the 1950s to the present, its focus being on works by Catalan artists. Changing exhibitions round out the program.
