Local before arrival
In the El Raval neighborhood of the Ciutat Vella, many new galleries have sprung up near MACBA and CCCB in recent years. Housed in a former convent, Carmelitas is a hip but friendly restaurant with an adjoining gallery specializing in video installations of international artists. The walls of the dining room on the ground floor and the large windows of the corner building are used as projection screens to create a dialog between the inside and the outside.
