Local before arrival
It would be easy to mistake the Augustiner Brewery on Neuhauser Straße for a tourist trap and hence avoid it altogether. That would be a pity because it is the last real “beer palace” from the regency of Prince Luitpold. Not only does it serve excellent beer, its building is remarkable as well. Particularly beautiful: the Shell Hall with its impressive dome of iron and glass, decorative busts, antlers, columns, stucco, and artistic ornaments made of real shells and pebbles.
