Opened in 2003, Fünf Höfe (literally “Five Courtyards”) is a spacious and stylish shopping center and cultural space at a historic location between Theatinerstraße and Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße. It was designed by Herzog & de Meuron, who reserved a lot of room for public art, including Olafur Eliasson’s “Sphere” in Viscardihof and Tita Giese’s “Hanging Gardens” in Salvatorpassage. In addition, Fünf Höfe is home to Hypo-Kunsthalle and its first-rate exhibition program.
