In the Eastern Docklands, Amsterdam has completely reinvented itself. Warehouses, cranes, and sheds once located on the docks and harbor islands have had to make way for an inspiring and unique style of waterfront architecture. The old scene of squatters, artists, and students is now a thing of the past. Dynamic and successful urbanites in particular now reside in the hip and highly coveted city districts of Sporenbrug, and Java, KNSM, and Borneo islands.
