Local before arrival
Surfing, kiteboarding, ocean swimming—all of that in a city of millions. Barcelona’s beaches make even residents feel like they’re on vacation. Who cares that except for Platja de la Barceloneta they were created for the 1992 Olympic Games. In total, there are five beaches, covering 2.8 miles of coastline. If it’s too cool to sunbathe or swim, stroll down Passeig Marítim to Port OlÍmpic and marvel at Frank O. Gehry’s giant golden fish sculpture.
