Neighboring the faculty of natural sciences at the Jussieu Campus, the garden of the Natural History Museum seems more like a tree-lined extension of the university. Students and visitors share this idyllic space with 1,100 animal species. Originally Louis XIII’s medicinal plant garden, the park has been expanded and embellished by various different directors, as specified by kings of France. Aromatic avenues of lime trees dating from 1740 remain as vestiges of that era.
