Local before arrival
Expertly designed by Jean Nouvel in cooperation with AS. Architecture-Studio in 1987, the Arab World Institute combines traditional Arab elements with high-tech features: apertures inspired by mashrabiyas automatically control the amount of light entering through the glass façade of the building. With its museum, library, and documentation center, the institute is a joint project between France and 22 Arab countries to promote understanding of and dialog with Arab civilizations.
