A former margarine factory in the heart of Berlin’s Scheunenviertel provides ample space for one of the leading institutions for contemporary art. The KW Institute for Contemporary Art, often referred to as KW, does not have a collection of its own. Instead, KW provides 22,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, artist studios, and a café located in a spacious courtyard in a multifaceted effort to support innovation, creative work and cultural exchange. KW launched the Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art in 1996.
