A blast from the past: for almost a century, two gigantic turbo diesel motors pumped drinkable dune-filtered water from the not-so-distant coast of the North Sea to the bustling capital, where it was sold for one cent per bucket. Today, the monumental brick building is home to a café cum restaurant in the old engine room – the perfect place for typical Dutch dishes like uitsmijter or broodje kroket, asparagus with ham or sole with French fries.
