Local before arrival
Since its humble opening in 1929 which featured only nine piecesworks, the MoMA has expanded its permanent collection to more than 150,000 pieces of art and over 22,000 films, and itself is an architectural wonder. The building’s $425 million facelift by Yoshio Taniguchi inspires awe with its contemporary spaces, labyrinth of glass walkways and 110-ft atrium entrance. Dining options include the award-winning restaurant The Modern and the MoMA Store offers patrons a carefully curated selection of books and design objects.
