STÄDEL MUSEUM
PHOTOS MAPS

In 1815, the last will and testament of Frankfurt businessman, banker, and collector Johann Friedrich Städel laid the foundation for one of Germany’s oldest art museums. Thanks to him, we can now stroll through more than 700 years of European art history. The newly renovated old building houses the great masters, while the fascinating new building is chock-full of modern and contemporary art. The collection and special exhibitions have an international reputation.
