Probably everyone has told a fib once in his life. Still, only few visitors can withstand the temptation to place their hand in “the mouth of truth,” an ancient manhole cover of the Cloaca Maxima. In the middle ages, culprits indeed had their hand chopped off on this occasion. Aside from this spectacle, the church is also worthwhile because of its beautiful cosmatesque designs on the floor and its filigree seven-storied bell tower.
