Now that the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II is open to visitors, it is a popular attraction because of the fantastic view from the top platform. While in the past it was typically taken in as whole, now it is possible to study architectural details up close: the bronze equestrian statue of King Victor Emmanuel, the base of which is adorned with the symbols of major Italian cities, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I, or the two horse-drawn chariots on the roof.
