This idyllic park-like peninsula is one of those places that you drive past and wonder what it’s like. Then one day you stop, cross the small bridge, step onto the sandy beach, and realize just how close you had been to a day at the seaside all this time. The city of Frankfurt built the public beach and river pool back in 1900, but it hasn’t stayed frozen in time. The Imbiss-Ponton, which was part of the 2004 Venice Architecture Biennale, is especially eye-catching.
