Long overdue, the Jewish Center on Jakobsplatz is a blessing, not just for the community but also for urban development. Three impressive new buildings were constructed based on designs by Wandel Hoefer Lorch: The centerpiece is the new main synagogue whose monolithic base and three-tiered tent roof express stability and fragility. Below ground, the Tunnel of Remembrance connects the synagogue to the community center; the Jewish Museum serves as the architectural link between both.
