The inauguration of the main synagogue Ohel Jakob in 2006 was a new beginning for the Jewish community in Munich, and this new ensemble at St.-Jakobs-Platz provided them with a cultural center. The museum is located next to the community hall and the kosher restaurant Einstein. Its exterior walls are embellished with large phrases that stir curiosity in pedestrians as they pass by the two-storied, modern cube. The excitement continues inside, for instance while viewing a carpet in the permanent exhibition that has been woven to resemble a city map of Munich, highlighting some of the local sites of Jewish history.
