Before Emre Gürel opened his restaurant Garlic, Turkish food did not come to mind easily when picking a restaurant in Shanghai. Oozing with style—a fireplace in the center of the dining room and a supervised play corner—Garlic is sure to become an instant classic. The menu includes Gürel’s favorite dishes from home. Three chefs from Istanbul work their magic, preparing fresh yogurt with mint, sundried eggplant with rice, crispy grilled meats, and the cheese pastry künefe for dessert.
