Shanghai’s urban space flickers with advertisements on flatscreen displays. Gone are the days when posters were the distribution medium for new messages. But a large collection of propaganda posters still awaits discovery in Yang Pei Ming’s tucked-away basement museum. With his fine sense for poster art he preserves Chinese contemporary history from the art deco Shanghai calendar ladies to Mao Zedong.
