It was almost 20 years ago that Kenny came from Hong Kong to Shanghai and stayed. He was spellbound by the city’s history but found so little nightlife that soon he opened one of the first clubs in a basement. When he added the ground floor to the basement, he christened the locale Y.Y (Ying Yang). With or without the second level, Y.Y acquired cult status. Decorated with flea market posters and steeped in authenticity and smoke, this is a bar with a soul like few others in Shanghai.
