Local before arrival
The quickest way to get to Saigon from Berlin is to take the M8 tram. This line goes to the east of the city, where the largest part of the Vietnamese community lives. They have created their own shopping world in Lichtenberg, a mall which boasts absolutely everything. Around 250 businesses have settled in the mall, bringing a feeling of the Mekong to the Spree. Anyone suffering from severe homesickness can come here to indulge in the Asiatic scents and colours, and then fortify themselves with Phở, spring rolls, and rice dishes in one of the restaurants.
