Local before arrival
Bioparco was first opened on the grounds of the Villa Borghese in 1911. The zoo’s main focus is to protect species on the brink of extinction and to raise awareness among visitors of the needs of animals. Since education works best if started early, child-friendly installations and posters inform young visitors about the way animals live and how to best care for them. Adults will find a lot to learn as well.
