Founded in 1975 as a private association and becoming a foundation in 1994, this gallery’s mission has been to collect and exhibit Berlin’s own fine art, photography and architecture dating from 1870 to the present. Its permanent and special exhibitions feature, for example, works by Berlin’s secessionists and expressionists, Junge Wilde, neo-objectivists, and contemporary artists. Since 2004, the collection has been housed in a former warehouse that was converted into a museum.
