With the 2005 opening of the new building by architects Behnisch & Partner and Werner Durth on Pariser Platz, the Academy—reestablished in 1993—obtained a proper headquarters. Behind an all-glass façade are offices, spaces for events, and several open levels interconnected by a network of free-floating stairways. The Academy hosts a broad spectrum of cultural events, including exhibitions, concerts, readings, dance performances, and film screenings, and awards the annual Berlin Art Prize.
