Originally built for the World Exhibition in Brussels in 1958 and designed by Karl Schwanzer, the 21er Haus was Vienna’s first museum of modern art between 1962 and 2001. A new design and a new concept in cooperation with names from the national art scene turned the 21er Haus into a haven for Austria’s contemporary art with international flair. Among other treasures, the house is home to the inheritance of sculptor Fritz Wotruba.
