This small shop, with its striped wallpaper, has been in the same family for many decades. The Walds opened their marzipan manufacturing business back in 1947. In 2005, the couple’s granddaughter, Gina Massey, took over the business and now runs it with her husband, Ralf Bentlin. They still make the marzipan by hand from almonds, rosewater, and far less sugar than is used in industrial production. Even celebrities enjoy the marzipan shapes, breads, tortes, and chocolates: Loriot and Harald Juhnke were regular customers.
