The original “people’s park”, Victoria Park was established in response to the acute public health need of 19th-century East Enders for a large chunk of leafy greenness. The first park in the world built for a community, more than 150 years later it continues to attract millions of visitors – and with good reason. Two cafes, picnicking, foodie events, children’s play areas, boating, tree walks, sports pitches, a bowling green and wildlife-education activities mean something for everyone.
