The City Bakery is the official Flatiron lunch joint, a sprawling two-story cafe abuzz with activity. There’s something for everyone—from fresh pressed juices and vegetarian pumpkin seed purée “burgers” for the health-nuts to warm and gooey mac and cheese and buttery fried chicken for the home-style enthusiasts. Be sure to leave room for dessert. The cookies at the checkout counter, nearly the size of dinner plates, are famous, as are the square marshmallow-topped cups of hot cocoa.
