Originally founded as a space for alternative arts, today Printed Matter has become the world’s largest non-profit organization devoted to the appreciation, promotion, and publication of artists’ books. With over 15,000 books, fanzines, and posters by 5,000 international artists on hand, the space in the Chelsea gallery district promotes the books themselves as works of art that serve as the voice of the ever-changing landscape of the contemporary art market.
