The Simone de Beauvoir footbridge, 997 ft. long, has linked the park of Bercy to the Bibliothèque nationale de France since 2006. The architect, Dietmar Feichtinger, succeeded in creating this light, elegant work of art by combining a suspension and an arched bridge, mutually stabilizing each other and thus avoiding the need for supports in the Seine itself. Pedestrians are offered differing perspectives depending on the section they are on.
