Directed by architects Anne Lacation and Jean-Philippe Vassal, the 2001 interior redesign of this palais originally built for the World Fair in 1937 has been one of the most innovative projects of the last decade, suggesting a laboratory for avant-garde art. Resembling a gigantic loft, open spaces juxtapose installations, paintings, and sculptures by emerging contemporary artists from France and other countries.
