In a time when former pharmacies transform into bars, it perhaps makes even more sense to transform butcher’s shops into restaurants. An prime example of such a transformation can be found in the Elisabetenstraße in Stuttgart West. The large letters on the façade of the heritage-listed building remain simple, the plaster partly beaten off the walls, the bricks are painted white and the space is furnished with a mixture of school, office, and living furniture, creating an atmosphere between a trip back in time and coziness. What makes the space so appealing is that it’s not really stylish, but simply friendly and familiar. A welcoming environment to enjoy meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes prepared under the direction of chef Yilmaz Yogutcu.
