In the early 1980s, Americans Sharon Gannon and David Life developed the Jivamukti style of yoga, which extends beyond the physical aspects of traditional yoga and offers yogis the philosophical background knowledge as well as a challenging workout between music and meditation. In addition to a studio in Mitte with its own vegan café, a second studio has now opened in a 3,600-sq.-ft. loft in Kreuzberg. Courses are offered in German or English, and once a month well-known international yoga instructors visit the studios to act as guest teachers.
