It may be possible that the inspiration for this unique hotel concept stems from the name of the street it’s located on. The philosopher Karl Popper was known for his theories regarding an open society, after all. Owned by the third generation of the Komarek family, this hotel is trend-setting, casually cool, family-friendly, and eco-conscious all at once. The latter is apparent through a number of means, from LED lighting and charge stations for electric vehicles to the support of a natural hydrologic cycle and heating/cooling using innovation induction technology. Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering, the owners are constantly challenging the status quo to improve their concept. “Guests staying with us experience a Viennese expression of hospitality, with traditional cultural elements combined with a future-oriented Vienna. We also regularly host exhibitions with local artists,” explains the host, Benedikt Komarek. The future is reflected in the individually designed guest rooms, the mobile check-in and -out, room keys on mobile devices, and a co-working space in the lobby. Gabriel Kacerovsky from archisphere is responsible for the architecture and interior design.
