Max Frisch lived less than 400 m away – perhaps guests think of him as they fall asleep under H.C. Jenssen’s “hand-written” paintings. These are visual interpretations of scenes – written by Urs Widmer, Eugen Gomringer and 23 other writers – that can be found in the hotel’s 25 rooms. The writers’ works are provided to guests as bedtime reading. But you can also spend your evening in the Alstadt Bar, which is hardly a hotel bar: Between 7 am and midnight, the whole quarter meets there.
