The Stuttgart television tower enthroned on the eastern chain of hills above the valley basin is not only a landmark of the “city between forest and vines”—it is also a milestone in German engineering. The tower, designed by Fritz Leonhardt and commissioned in 1956, was the first ever constructed with reinforced concrete. Under the top of the antenna at a height of 217 meters, there is a basket with viewing platforms and a restaurant. After several years of renovations, the tower and restaurant have been accessible again since 2016 and delight visitors and locals alike with 360-degree views.
