What was intended to be just a restoration of a façade on Passeig de Gràcia became one of the most poetic masterpieces of Modernisme after its completion in 1904. Gaudí’s inspiration was the legend of Saint George, the dragon slayer. The roof resembles the back of a dragon covered with shimmering blue scales. All shapes flow freely and are rounded organically. The façade with its floral designs is a testament to Gaudí’s love of ornamentation.
