Local before arrival
The mom-and-pop grocery store of Shanghai is the “Avocado Lady.” Affordable avocados, pine nuts, arugula, fresh mint, balsamic vinegar, and unsweetened yogurt are not so easy to find in Shanghai—except from her. At first glance she’s hard to spot in the busy hubbub between Anfu Road and Fuxing Road, between hot-pot restaurants, cafés, and colorful shops. But with her lively produce shop and rich assortment of goods, she is an established legend in this city.
