A 26-story high-rise in the heart of China’s busiest metropolis is not what you would associate with an oasis of tranquility. And yet, that’s exactly what awaits guests in this urban resort, part of the Design Hotels collection. Opened in 2009, it combines a central location with the amenities of a resort. Upon entering the lobby with its shiny black tile floor, guests are surrounded by an atmosphere of stillness, which continues in the 229 rooms. The spa delivers even more relaxation: Its infinity pool offers panoramic vistas of the sprawling skyline and Jing An Park.
