Local before arrival
A new place for the young and cool opened at the end of 2012 on the northern tip of the still somewhat barren Hafenpark in Ostend, just a stone’s throw from the construction site for the European Central Bank. The curvy, hilly terrain of this skatepark offers cyclists and skateboarders over 59,000 square feet of space for their hobby. The city has invested €1.8 million in the project, the concrete was poured on site and then smoothed by hand. Bright, loud, and metropolitan—a magnet for visitors.
