The Schönbrunn castle, once the summer residence of Maria Theresia, was constantly renovated and expanded between the 16th and the 19th century, and embellished in a shiny yellow. The color itself was named after the site: Schönbrunn yellow. Guided tours through the glorious estate are a treat even for little guests, as they are allowed to try on the imperial costumes. The castle’s vast green park invites visitors to stroll amongst the Viennese who use the park for summer picnics.
