Local before arrival
A pinacoteca, the name for an art gallery in ancient Greece, is only supposed to house paintings. But here sculptures and photographs are also on display. The old colonial-style brick building sits by an idyllic park, right in the center, near the Estação da Luz metro interchange. The façade is already crumbling a little, but, inside, modernity is on full display. Check out the building elements introduced by Paulo Mendes da Roche during the 1990s renovation.
