Local before arrival
With four miles of gallery aisles, the Vatican Museums are among the largest museums in the world. You can spend days there without seeing all of their treasures. Must-see attractions include the Sistine Chapel, inseparably linked to Michelangelo, and Raphael’s Rooms. Particularly remarkable is his School of Athens in the Stanza della Segnatura. The maps of the various regions of Italy are of significant documentary value.
