The Louvre is one of the most beautiful and largest museums in the world. Only 8% of its holdings, dating from antiquity to 1848 and spanning all major art epochs and regions, are on display, including popular attractions such as the “Venus de Milo” and the “Mona Lisa.” Expansive restorations have updated the style of presentation, and works by contemporary artists have been added. For example, a painting by Cy Twombly on the ceiling of the Bronze Room was unveiled in 2010.
